UAS Ultimate

This is the UAS Porfolio Page for UAS Ultimate Frisbee players.

Please feel free to post invitations to play, suggestions of outings, events, or whatever might be needed. Some will want to use this as a way to ask for rides from the group, and others will post links to information about the game and strategy involved. Invite anyone interested and let's get playing! See you there!

A New Year for Ultimate

Welcome everyone!

For those who are new to the Ultimate scene here in Juneau, welcome!  For those returning, welcome back! We'll be playing this fall (with special thanks to UAS Intramural Sports) outdoors for September & October!

A brief overview of this message:

  1. Field Times
  2. Club details
  3. Other notes

================================================

1) Field times (sept - oct):

  • All Sundays, 7-9pm
  • September Wednesdays, 9-11pm
  • October Wednesdays, 8-10pm

All times are scheduled at the Floyd Dryden Turf Field (directions: Campus_to_Turf, pdf).

2) Club details:

  • If you are a student, come one, come all!
  • To be officially recognized as a club, we need some students to step up and get involved. Stop by the computer lab to talk with me - I need someone to fill out club paperwork, and to put some thinking towards what we want to do this semester (Pizza party? Movie viewings? Other? If you can't be involved, feel free to pass your ideas on and maybe whoever takes the lead can incorporate the good thoughts).
  • If you are not a UAS student, we expect support to the club (I'm thinking in the way of donations, but there are no requirement, and no limits... don't bite the hand that feeds you...).

3) Other Notes:

  • Need a ride from housing? Email me to let me know, and we'll work something out. No email, no ride. (Unless you find your own.)
  • It's smart to bring a light & dark shirt -- it makes it easier to split up teams. Also, if you plan to run on the turf, cleats can be useful.
  • Be mindful of the weather - if you're not playing, it gets cold on the sidelines.
  • In November, we'll start playing indoors at the rec center.
  • Discs for sale!  I have 20-30 discs for sale. See the picture at the end of the email for what the orange discs look like! $10 each!  They make great gifts!

See you at the field!

We had a good night.

I don't recall all the folks who were out, but we easily had 25 throughout the night.

Most were UAS students, with a couple UAS staff.

I believe that there may have also been a couple non-uas persons, though they were likely alumni...

A good start if I do say so myself!
