A First for a Construction Meeting: (Oct 11)

UAS FH Housing Construction Update for 10/11/2013

A First for a Construction Meeting:

I have attended project construction meetings for several decades and this week was the first time we ever needed to discuss the threat of Zombies.  This week UAS students have been playing a fun game of tag called Humans vs. Zombies.   http://www.uas.alaska.edu/juneau/activities/

Most of the Humans/Zombies were quite well behaved.  However, we did have a couple renegade Humans/Zombies that ran though the construction zone.  No-body got hurt, but it brought up concerns about safety.  Safety has improved significantly on the construction site since I graduated college.  However, the construction trades still hold 5 of the top 10 most dangerous jobs in America.  I know several construction workers who have been seriously injured on the job site, including a neighbor who was exposed to a chemical leak that burnt his lungs.  The last 20 years of his life he was chained to a bottle of oxygen and unable to do most of the things he enjoyed in life.  I’m always surprised how quickly a life can be changed forever.   So whether it is on the construction site, at your job, at home or playing a great game of Humans VS Zombies have fun but be safe.
