Roundabout Construction Down for the Winter

Wednesday, December 11, 2013

The Roundabout Contractor is finished for this construction season.  They did place all of the fill and most of the underground utilities.  But, they did not get as far as they had hoped.  The contractor expects to start up construction in March or April, providing the ground has thawed.  DOT&PF has taken over snow plowing and maintenance of the roadway for the winter.  They have designated pedestrian routes through the intersection as indicated on the below map.  This map has been posted at several locations around the intersection.  With such little daylight hours and all the snow out there, please wear highly visible clothing and be careful.

On another note, If you're in a car it is very difficult seeing the headlights of cars as you approach Auke Bay to turn onto Back Loop Road. Due to the heighth of most cars and the heighth of the retaining wall on your right most headlights are blocked by the wall. Double check before making your turn!
