The symposium will bring together the many stakeholders who are currently working in aquatic resource management in Southeast Alaska. This event will provide an opportunity to share information, tools and methods for promoting and achieving effective fish habitat conservation activities in the region.
The symposium is focused on topics of fish distribution, stream/river habitat, watershed assessment and prioritization methods, relevant geospatial tools and information on emerging research in the region. Additionally, the symposium offers an overview of the Clean Water Act Section 404 program and proposed Southeast Alaska Mitigation Fund.
It is our hope that this symposium will provide a baseline level of information sharing on central fish habitat conservation topics and become an annual event for future exploration of these and other important thematic topics.

PART-TIME DEC POSITION- Water Utilities Grants and Loans
This position would include a flexible part-time schedule during the school year and full-time in the summer – also on a flexible schedule. In a very brief overview, the position would aid our project engineers in administering state grants and loans for water utility projects. Tasks would include – but are not limited to, website design and update, electronic and hard copy filing of records and correspondence, project oversight, grant and loan administration, water regulations and contract review, and frequent written correspondence with vendors and communities. This position would be under my direct supervision but would also coordinate with our staff in Anchorage.
Any referrals that you might give for this recruitment would be appreciated.

Follow-up for SCA GIS internships
Jeff Chen will be on campus if you want to meet with him.
My name's Jeff Chen. I'm a recruiter for the Student Conservation Association in Alaska. Each year, we have several GIS positions with our federal public land partners in and out of Alaska. I'm headed down to Juneau this week -- Wednesday through Friday --
We also have a Spring Break professional development orientation for students that identify as racial or ethnic minorities. The attached flier for National Park Service Academy explains the program a bit.
I still have availability Wednesday afternoon, most of Thursday, and Friday morning.
