Showing of the film Big River

By the makers of King Corn...

UAS Environmental Science Club is hosting a free screening of the
documentary, King Corn, and its follow up, Big River. This screening is
part of UAS Green Week which is a new event sponsored by UAS Student
Government. Other Green Week activities include a student housing
recycling challenge, First Friday community bike ride from campus to
downtown, and lunch hour events in Mourant Cafe with UAS Bicycle Club,
UAS Sustainability Club, and SEACC.

Big River is a 30 minute documentary investigating the effects of
agriculture in the midwest including the hypoxic dead zone in the Gulf
of Mexico, loss of topsoil, and agricultural toxins in tap water.
King Corn is a 88 minute documentary which follows the fate of an acre
of corn in Iowa, shedding light on how we eat and how we farm. More
information on the films can be found at www.bigriverfilm.com

I am writing to invite you all and ask that you spread the word.
The screening will begin at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 4th, in Egan
Lecture Hall. Everyone is welcome.
