Field Assistant- Forestry Science Lab-Juneau

A highly energetic student is currently being sought to assist a hydrologist and ecologist in on-going stream research with the Pacific Northwest Research Station.

The  project is designed to develop specific field measurements to document improvements in fish habitat following stream restoration.  Measurements include quantifying photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) , algal growth, litterfall, and invertebrate drift.  Per month, approximately 1-2 weeks will be spent on Prince of Wales Island.  The remaining time will be spent either constructing equipment, conducting lab analyses, or assisting with data entry.

The assistant will be employed from late April or early May (working with the student's schedule) to September (possibly at a part-time basis, later).  The full-time employee will be paid at a GS-5 salary level, approximately $13/hour with locality and cost of living allowance added.

Please contact Adelaide Johnson for more information, if interested:
