AAEP scholarship and AK Miner's Assn. Student Poster Session

1.  The Alaska Association of Environmental Professionals (AAEP) Board has once again authorized scholarship funding for this school year.  This year the Board has approved the funding of ONE $1,000 scholarship for the 2011-12 school year for an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in the environmental-related sciences.

2. Please find attached information on the 2011 Alaska Miners Association (AMA) student poster session on Wednesday, November 9, 2011.  I will be coordinating student involvement in the poster session.

AMA will provide through Student Sponsorships convention registration fee, Wednesday lunch, and Friday breakfast for the primary student author presenting the poster – the student must register using the form attached.  NEW FOR THIS YEAR: The primary student author will have the opportunity to participate in a field trip to Usibelli Coal Mine or the Pebble project to be arranged in 2012.  Many thanks to Bill Brophy at Usibelli and Mike Heatwole at Pebble Partnership for these field trip options.

Please encourage your students or student interns to present posters at this year’s AMA convention.  Please forward this message to interested students or student groups, post on notice boards, place in mailboxes, etc.
AMA is also working on Student Sponsorships to cover registration fees and the Friday breakfast for students attending the convention – more on this in the near future.  Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
